Natalie Daniels

The Community Keeper

2025

For the ones who are always there, even when no one’s watching. This award honors everyday folks who aren’t in the spotlight or leadership positions, but who carry community on their backs: the auntie opening her home to youth, the neighbor always showing up with a ride, a meal, or a helping hand. Their impact isn’t in titles — it’s in trust, presence, and care.

Natalie Daniels is a Baltimore-born advocate, case manager, and mentor with over two decades dedicated to uplifting and empowering her community. A proud City College (GO KNIGHTS) alumna and teenage mom who found success through the guidance of positive adult relationships, Natalie has built her career on the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to live a healthy, stable, and fulfilling life—regardless of their current circumstances.

For the past ten years, she has served as Housing Case Manager and Health Education Coordinator at LIGHT Health & Wellness, where she works passionately to ensure individuals and families have access to safe housing, vital health resources, and solutions to overcome food insecurities. Known for her holistic approach, Natalie addresses the whole person—health, housing, education, relationships, and personal goals—while equipping her clients with the skills and confidence to sustain long-term success.

In 2017, she founded ELLE (Empowerment, Learning, Leadership, Exposure) Mentoring, a nonprofit organization designed to empower adolescent girls and young women to become leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers. Through mentorship, life skills training, and community engagement, Natalie creates safe and affirming spaces where young women can discover their strengths, build resilience, and step boldly into their purpose.

Her leadership and dedication have been widely recognized, most notably when she was awarded the Baltimore Corps Elevation Award in 2022 for her commitment to advancing equity and creating meaningful change in Baltimore communities.

Beyond her professional and community work, Natalie is the proud mother of two daughters. A self-proclaimed "Game Czar," she loves hosting game nights in her free time, bringing people together through fun, laughter, and connection.

At the heart of Natalie’s work is a deep commitment to empowerment and equity. She believes advocacy is not just about connecting people to services, but about breaking cycles, opening doors, and nurturing the next generation of leaders. Her journey as a teenage mom turned advocate serves as living proof that with the right relationships and support systems, success is not only possible—it’s within reach.

WHAT COMMUNITY HAD TO SAY:

"This recognition is long overdue. Natalie has spent years changing lives, not with fanfare, but with fierce determination, unconditional kindness, and an unwavering belief that everyone deserves a safe place to call home. Their work may not have made headlines, but it has made a profound difference one family, one client, one crisis at a time. She is my hero and a true community leader."
